Physical Education

Subject Intent:

To promote and encourage healthy, active lifestyles through the delivery of a physically challenging and intellectually stimulating curriculum, which provides opportunities to develop teamwork and leadership and achieve excellence.


Curriculum:


GCSE Examination Board: Pearson BTEC Level 1/2 First Award in Sport

GCSE Assessment Method: 3 internally assessed units, 1 externally assessed exam (screen-based).


A Level Examination Board: Pearson BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Sports Studies

A Level Assessment Method: Single award: 2 internally assessed units, 2 externally assessed examinations. Double award: 6 internally assessed units, 3 externally assessed examinations.


Where Physical Education can take you: Many students progress to university with Sports Sciences and Sports Coaching popular course choices. Some students have embarked on PE teaching careers via university or progressed on to careers in scientific/medical fields including Paramedics and Laboratory Sciences. Other destinations include careers working in the Sports & Active Leisure industry straight from school – sports centres, coaching in the community etc.

Extra-Curricular Activities
Extra-curricular activities are offered throughout the year. Each half term an extra-curricular timetable will be produced. These activities will be varied and take place at lunchtimes and after school. Clubs & Activities
